How can I be sure your products have no gluten, soy, dairy, eggs and peanuts?
We are currently manufacturing our product in a raw, vegan commercial kitchen on dedicated equipment. This kitchen does not stock or use gluten, peanuts, dairy or eggs in any of their cooking. We also take special care to insure that no soy comes in contact with our products. All ingredients are also certified by the suppliers to be gluten-free. We also randomly gluten test our product to insure it is under 10ppm.
If I don’t have any of these allergies, why would I want to eat your brittle?
Because it tastes good! Yes, really. You don’t need a special diet to like our products. In fact, most of the initial support for our products came from people who didn’t need to eat it, but wanted to eat it. The perk is, your body will thank you since it has lots of nutrients and no additives. It's full of clean energy.
I’m concerned about carbs/sugars in my food. What is added to your brittle to make it taste sweet?
First of all, there are NO added sugars in Bare Brittle. The only sweetener-like substance added is raw agave powder(which is safe for diabetics), and it is only added in a very small amount. The carbs/sugars are entirely from the dates, which are incredibly nutritious and high in fiber. Fruit sugars are far easier for your body to process than cane sugar, refined sugar, corn syrup, etc.
I’m diabetic and have heard that dates are terrible for diabetics. Should I not eat them?
There’s a lot of speculation on the internet about dates and diabetes. Angela's father is diabetic, and has found that scientific authorities such as the Mayo Clinic and the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition have found dates to be no different than other fruits in raising blood glucose levels. In one study, they were actually found to be beneficial to blood sugar levels. Many dieticians even recommend date juice as a sweetener for baking. As with any fruit, you need to incorporate dates properly into your diet - i.e. don’t eat a pound a day! We recommend talking to your doctor or dietician for specifics.
